Chicago: The 26/11 Mumbai terror plotter David Coleman Headley, who testified having worked for various US agencies while taking up his India’s terror assignment from Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and terror outfit Lashkar-e-Tayeba’s (LeT), disclosed that he tried to get Al Qaeda’s senior leader Illiyas Kashmiri killed in a US drone attack.
Deposing in the US District Court here Tuesday, he said he tried to have Kashmiri killed in a drone attack in collusion with the US Authorities, especially the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The Pakistani American testified that he had discussed the possibility of presenting Kashmiri with a fancy sword embedded with a computer chip which would have helped US to find location of the Al Qaeda leader to order a Drone strike to kill him.
During his cross-examination in the trial of Tahawwur Rana, his school time friend, it was brought out by the defence that Headley, soon after his arrest, reached an understanding with the US authorities to draw out his LeT’s handler Sajid so as to have him arrested or killed.
Headley, the Pakistani origin American, also worked on getting a German arms supplier arrested. The German, he disclosed, was to supply arms for executing the Denmark plot against a newspaper which had published cartoons of Prophet Mohammed.Â
