HC quashes PSA against Asiya Andrabi, five others

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Thursday quashed detention orders under Public Safety Act against six persons including chief of Dukhteran-e-Milat Asiya Andrabi and senior Hurriyat Conference (G) leader Abdul Ahad Para. Official sources told said that after hearing the counsel for the detainee, advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom, High Court quashed the detention under PSA against Asiya Andrabi. On May 03 last, Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir had reserved for orders the petition, challenging the second successive PSA imposed against her by the authorities on April 13 last.  Andrabi is lodged in Kot Balwal jail Jammu.Meanwhile, the High Court quashed detention orders under PSA against five other persons including Abdul Ahad Para, Imtiyaz Qadir Bhat, Abdul Hameed, Yasir Mukhtar Ellai and Abdul Majeed Sheikh. The detainees were represented by advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom, Advocate ZA Shah, advocate Imtiyaz Ahmad Sofi and advocate Mir Majid.
