SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 26: Jammu and Kashmir High Court has asked the Government to resolve issues hampering Sher-i-Kashmir Sports Stadium work and provide sufficient number of coaches and adequate sports infrastructure to cater to the needs of the Union Territory.

The directions were issued by Chief Justice, Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Sindhu Sharma while hearing a petition seeking adequate sports infrastructure in the Union territory of J&K. The HC observed that a compliance report has been filed by J&K Cricket Association, wherein certain difficulties have been pointed out in completion of the construction work of the Sher-i-Kashmir Sports Stadium.

Meanwhile, referring to another status report filed by government respondents, the HC observed that the report discloses that for 28 sports disciplines, there are a total of 77 coaches.

“By no stretch of imagination, can this be considered sufficient to meet the needs of Union Territory of J&K. Furthermore, perusal of the status report shows that no specific details regarding completion of projects and sports infrastructure have been given” the Court observed.
