JAMMU: Vice Chairman, Advisory Board for the Gujjar Bakerwal Mr. Bashir Ahmad Naaz today said that a Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel for students of the community would be constructed in district Samba for which land has been already identified.
He announced this while interacting with the people during his visit to the border district, adding that the hostel building would be constructed near the District Development Commissioner’s Office at an estimated cost of Rs. 2 crore.
The Vice Chairman asked the District Development Commissioner, Samba Mr. Mubarak Singh to prepare a comprehensive proposal for the project.
Mr. Naaz said that Rs.10 lakh have already been released for the construction of boundary wall around the construction site, while the work on the main hostel complex would be started in due course. He asked the concerned authorities to expedite the preliminary works to ensure early execution of the project.
Mr. Naaz said the hostel will accommodate 100 students and will be equipped with all modern facilities, adding that a Gujjar Bakerwal hostel for girls would also be taken in the 2nd phase.
Gujjar Bakerwal Vice Chairman on the occasion said that the coalition government is committed to uplift this Community and such initiatives will be extended in every district of the State. He said government has taken several initiatives to provide quality education to Gujjar Bakerwal boys and girls.
The Vice Chairman also directed the R& B authorities to prepare a project for the construction of bridge and link road from Deputy Commissioner’s office upto Hostel Masjid Sharief. He also directed the Flood Control department to prepare project for construction of bund over the Nallah of the site.
Senior officers of various departments including PDD, R&B, Flood Control and Revenue, Naseem Chowdhary, Abdul Gani Khohli, Asgar Chowdhary, Ch. Hassan Sardar, Mukhtar Famdhara and Bashir Ahmad and other prominent citizens of Gujjar Bakerwal community were present on the occasion.(KMW News)
