Srinagar: Suspected militants made an abortive bid to blow up a paramilitary CRPF bunker in Batamaloo area in uptown of the Srinagar—the summer capital of the state—on Thursday.
Official sources told that the militants hurdled grenade towards 157 battalion CRPF bunker at Keckchowk around 1900 hours this evening. The device, they said, missed the target and exploded on roadside, without causing any damage to life or property.
The explosion caused panic among the pedestrian who moved helter-skelter for cover over thick blanket of snow, they said.
Police and CRPF later cordoned off the area but when the reports last came in no arrests were made, suggesting that the attackers had escaped from the spot.
