Srinagar: Criticizing Menaka Gandhi for defaming Kashmiri’s all over the world for calling them bear-eaters and getting Pashmina and Shahtosh banned in Kashmir, Grand Mufti Bashir-u-Din has expressed shock over the death of more than 2600 Pashmina and Shahtosh yielding goats in Ladakh region.
In a statement, Grand Mufti has said that more than 2600 Pashmina and Shahtosh yielding goats have died due to starvation in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir State.
Grand Mufti said that Pashmina and Shahtosh trade was the maximum profit yielding trade but due to disinformation campaign and fake propaganda carried out by a social and environmental organization headed by Menika Gandhi that Kasmiris are bear eaters and killing goats, resulted in the banning of this trade.
He said due to ban these goats have been left in wilderness and as a result, more than 2600 such goats have died due to starvation.
He has demanded a thorough probe into the cause of death of these animals.
