Govt. committed to provide marketing support to SSI: Slathia

SRINAGAR: Reiterating the Government’s resolve to provide adequate marketing support to the local registered small scale industrial units (SSI) in selling their products, the Minister for Industries and commerce, Mr. S. S. Salathia today called upon the State and Central government departments especially Beacon, Paramilitary and Defence Forces to make their purchases from the local unit holders, who after passing through a long phase of uncertainty are now seeking marketing support for their produce.
Speaking at a mega Buyer-Seller meet-cum- awareness programme, organized in the Kashmir Haat here today, Mr. Salathia said government endeavors to promote the growth of small scale industries in the state adding that all the government departments including PSUs have been directed to make purchases directly from SICOP for all such articles which are manufactured in the SSI sector.
The Buyer-Seller meet was organized by Directorate of Industries and Commerce Kashmir and J&K Small Scale Industries Corporation (SICOP), in association with Federation Chambers of Industries, Kashmir FCIK. A large number of buyers comprising heads of various purchasing government departments and PSU’s representatives of Central government departments including Beacon, Paramilitary, and Defence Forces attended the event and interacted with the local SSI Unit holders.
The event is of serious effort to build reliable linkage between purchasing departments and local small scale industrial unit holders.
The Minister directed the authorities of SICOP to distribute orders obtained by it from the indenting departments equitably among SSI units adding that the SICOP should ensure quality standard of products, competitiveness of prices and timely delivery of supply.
