Srinagar: Director SKIMS Abdul Hamid Zargar Wednesday said there was need for developing private health sector to improve the health sector in Jammu and Kashmir.“Government cannot look after the health sector in totality here. For a developed health sector in the state private health sector needs to be improved and developed,†said Zargar at a function organized by Help Poor Voluntary Trust (HPVT) at its office here.He also advised doctors to be polite with patients and asked for a change in thinking on grass root level in the health sector in general.Earlier, more than 350 poor patients across Srinagar district received free consultancy at “free multi-specialty consultation†organized by HPVT.Several doctors specializing in Endocrinology, Nephrology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Gynecology, and Psychiatry treated poor patients free-of-cost while medicines were provided on “no profit, no loss†basis in the medical camp.Dr Abdul Hamid Zargar who was chief guest on the occasion formally inaugurated a USG centre.HPVT was started on 1 February, 1998 by some businessmen from Saribala area of Srinagar, and has since then been serving poor patients across the state by organizing medical camps, etc.“We have been serving patients since 1998 and our motive is to help the poor. Besides medical assistance, we provide medical education, ambulances, trolleys and wheel chairs as well to the poor patients†said president of HPVT Farooq Ahmad Bhat.
