Governor calls for timely provision of all logistic and security arrangements for Yatra

JAMMU: At a high level meeting chaired by Shri N.N. Vohra, Governor, who is also the Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, various issues concerning the logistic and other related arrangements were discussed in the context of the ensuing Shri Amarnathji Yatra.

Mr. Kuldeep Khoda, Director General of Police, Mr. B. B. Vyas, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr. R. K. Goyal, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Mr. Navin Kumar Choudhary, Principal Secretary to Governor and Mr. Garib Dass, DIG, CIV (PHQ), participated in the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the implementation status of the varied recommendations made by the High Level Committee (HLC) which was set up in October 2011 and had furnished its Report in January, 2012. The HLC comprising the Principal Secretary (Home), Director General of Police, Principal Secretary (Planning), Principal Secretary (Finance) and the CEO of the Shrine Board, was set up to evolve well considered recommendations for the upgradation and enlargement of the infrastructural facilities for the annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra. It may be recalled that the HLC was set up consequent to the discussions held in October 2011 at a meeting convened by the Governor, involving the Chief Minister, Ministers for Forest, Tourism, Culture, Health and Minister of State for Home and other concerned senior officers.
The CEO informed the meeting about the to-date position in regard to the implementation of the High Level Committee recommendations. The meeting also discussed several matters relating to security and advance action for timely snow clearing.
The Governor stressed the need for ensuring time bound action on all fronts to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra this year. (KMW NEWS)
