Srinagar: Strongly denouncing the imposition of ‘undeclared curfew’ in Srinagar city and house arrest of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other leaders to thwart the Eidgah march, Hurriyat Conference(G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani  Saturday said the government was playing a “dangerous game by usurping the democratic rights of people through state hooliganism.â€â€œThe government has simply handed over the administration to the police who are keen on dealing with every manner through the stick and gun,†Geelani said in a statement issued.Paying tributes to the slain Hurriyat leaders, Maulvi Mohammad Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone, Mirwaiz on their death anniversaries, Geelani said the “best way to honour and remember the martyrs   of May 21 would be to pledge to take the freedom movement to its logical end at any costs and without the fear of difficulties.â€Flaying the restrictions imposed on Mirwaiz and other leaders and the imposition of curfew in Srinagar to foil the parallel Hurriyat  faction’s march towards Eidgah and laying of foundation stone of martyrs wall, Geelani said the government had shown once again that it could go to any extent to “enforce the silence of a graveyard in Kashmir.â€In an apparent reference to the ruling National Conference, Geelani said, “ New Delhi has imposed a political parties on Kashmiris through the might of its armed forces and police in Kashmir and history bears witness to the fact that this party has always thrived on hooliganism and undemocratic means,†he said. “This party has always tightened the noose around the necks of freedom loving people and continues to do so till this date,†he added.Geelani warned the government of serious consequences against what he termed imposing a blanket ban on peaceful public gatherings  and usurping democratic rights of people.
