Srinagar: Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani expressed his serious concern about the government proposal of extending lease agreement for Toasmaidan meadow in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district and said that we have learned from credible sources that money has been paid to ministers and bureaucrats for the purpose and they for their personal interests plead on behalf of army and are hell-bent to go ahead with the extension of lease agreement.
In a statement issued to KMW, the Hurriyat (G) chairman warned the administration and said that Hurriyat Conference will not stay silent and would oppose the move tooth and nail and for this they would launch a strong protest after taking into confidence the people of the affected area Friday, in a press statement, Geelani said that state authorities for the lust of their power and money interests have decided to dispose of all resource and assets to the people in Delhi.
“They least care for their obligation towards the nation and community and are more detrimental than renegades of Ikhwan.†While referring to the role played by both, the men in administration and the armed personnel of Ikhwan, Geelani said that Ikhwani although killed the unarmed and innocent civilians however politicians like Omar Abdullah and Ghulam Hassan Mir while playing as stooges handed over the dead bodies and all the available recourses of state for their petty interests. While commenting over the statement of Omar Abdullah, Syed Ali Geelani said that they have admitted that due to military drills in the said area, has resulted in immense loss to the lives and property and neither rent for said land has been paid nor any compensation have been provided to the families of deceased and injured persons. It is ironical that forces have not paid even a single penny as rent for the three thousand Kanals of said land. Syed Ali Geelani while flaying the administration, said although they admit that no rent is being paid and instead of all this Omer Abdullah administration informed the assembly that they are considering the case and lease agreement is under examination.
It is extreme cowardice, said Syed Ali Geelani and added that since 1947 pro-India politicians are playing a criminal role and are looting and exploiting the resources of the state for their personal gains and they are the main cause for the destruction and devastation in the state. They provided their services for Delhi, said Syed Ali Geelani and actually the forces rule the system in state and their status is not more than stooges. It is merely to deceive the international community that a selected administration exists in state.
Geelani disclosed that as army has approached administration for an extension in lease agreement, the politicians are playing very active role for said deal and Indian army has funded these politicians and some bureaucrats. Syed Ali Geelani said that though after the revelations made by Gen V.K Sigh we were expecting that no such deal would be executed but the declarations in this regard in assembly has surprised us that the case is under examination and under consideration. The senior separatist feared that it is apprehended that administration in a secret manner and without making it public would approve the lease case after Durbar move.
Syed Ali Geelani warned and said that Hurriyat Conference is closely monitoring the issue and with active support of the people of effected area will strongly oppose and would launch protest against extension in lease agreement for Tossamaiden meadow. Syed Ali Geelani said that Military drills have caused several deaths and Hurriyat Conference has decided to put-up the case of victims and disabled persons with the international community and human rights organizations. Syed Ali Geelani said that Indian forces are major risk factor for precious human lives in Jammu and Kashmir .While commenting over the silence maintained by international community, Syed Ali Geelani said that these organizations have never played any impressive role in protecting the human lives in state nor Indian authorities were made accountable for their wrongdoings.
