Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani Wednesday called for complete strike on next Saturday against the unabated arrest spree of youth and continued detention of political prisoners in Kashmir valley. “Omar Abdullah led government on the direction by government of India has started such a tyranny rule that even shivers the soul of Dogra rulers,” Syed Ali Shah Geelani said in a statement to.“The political prisoners are being kept in jails without any justification and after quashing of PSA by courts, government invokes second or third PSA orders against them. The life of youth has been turned as hell and every day, dozens are being arrested from every nook and corner of the Valley.” He said that more than fifty political prisoners are detained in different jails and alleged that government continues to target them of political vengeance.  “Due to detention for years together, the condition of detainees has deteriorated to dangerous levels and administration pays no attention towards their health.” “We can’t remain silent to the continued oppression for it is criminal besides being against our collective national interest,” he said, adding, “While hartal is the only way to register our protest, I vehemently urge people to observe a complete strike on March 12 (Saturday) against it,” he said. He also urged international human rights organizations including Amnesty International, Red Cross Society and others to use their influence in end the ‘oppression’ in Kashmir Valley.
