Srinagar: In its latest â€˜protest calendarâ€™ under â€œquit Kashmir movementâ€, Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani Friday called for a complete shutdown on December 4 and one-hour “peaceful protest demonstrations” on November 30 and December 3.
According to a Hurriyat Congerence (G) spokesman, Geelani while calling for a complete shutdown on December 4 urged school and college students to stage peaceful demonstration from 2 to 3 pm on November 30 to draw the international communityâ€™s attention toward â€œthe excesses being committed by government forces against innocent civilians.â€
â€œPeople from all sections of life should stage similar protest demonstrations on December 3 against the detention of political prisoners,â€ Geelani said in statement issued here to .
â€œWe cannot be mute spectators to the random arrest of youth and continued detention of pro-freedom leaders. Unless this state sponsored terrorism doesnâ€™t end, we will continue with our peaceful protests and demonstrations,â€ he added.
The veteran leader also condemned imposition of curfew to foil amalgam program at Eidgah by authorities.
