Srinagar: In its latest ‘protest calendar’ under “quit Kashmir movement”, Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani Friday called for a complete shutdown on December 4 and one-hour “peaceful protest demonstrations” on November 30 and December 3.
According to a Hurriyat Congerence (G) spokesman, Geelani while calling for a complete shutdown on December 4 urged school and college students to stage peaceful demonstration from 2 to 3 pm on November 30 to draw the international community’s attention toward “the excesses being committed by government forces against innocent civilians.”
“People from all sections of life should stage similar protest demonstrations on December 3 against the detention of political prisoners,” Geelani said in statement issued here to .
“We cannot be mute spectators to the random arrest of youth and continued detention of pro-freedom leaders. Unless this state sponsored terrorism doesn’t end, we will continue with our peaceful protests and demonstrations,” he added.
The veteran leader also condemned imposition of curfew to foil amalgam program at Eidgah by authorities.
