Srinagar: Chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani Friday assured full support of the amalgam to the All Party Committee, formed by Jamiat-Ahli-Hadees to probe the killing of its president Moulana Showkat Ahmad Shah last week.
Addressing a gathering at Hyderpora Chowk, Syed Ali Shah Geelani paid glowing tributes to Shah and underlined that those behind the killing of the scholar will surely be cursed of Almightly Allah.
“We will give full support to the committee formed to probe the killing of Moulana Showkat Ahmad Shah,†he said.
On last Wednesday, Jamiat-Ahli-Hadees announced the formation of all party committee to probe the killing of its president.
Referring to visit of various political parties of Indian mainstream to the valley, the octogenarian leader said these visits were meant nothing other than consuming time besides giving an impression that the people in the Kashmir were divided.
Earlier, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, according to a statement from the amalgam, was barred from visiting Baramulla where he was scheduled to address a Friday gathering at Baitul Muqaram Mosque.
“At 9 am, a police officer approached Geelani sahib to inform him that he can’t step outside his house. However at 11 am, the same officer again came in to notify him that he was free to visit Baramulla,†the statement said.
However, as soon as the veteran leader reached near Mirgund on Srianagar-Baramulla, a contingent of police barred him from proceeding ahead, following which the octogenarian leader return and offered the prayers at Jamia Masjid Hyderpora.
