When contacted, Senior Superintendent of Police, Aftab Ahmad Kakroo told the he has been detained under 107 and 151 CrPC.
“Syed Ali Geelani had invited media and had planned certain programmes which could have disturbed the public order. Keeping in view all the expected developments which could have occurred by his moves, he was arrested and has been lodged in Police Post, Humhama,” he said.
The octogenarian leader had announced to offer the congregational prayers at Hazratbal shrine on Eid-ul Fitr which may fall on next Friday or Saturday, depending on the sighting of moon.
This is for the second time during the present unrest that the ailing leader was arrested. Earlier, he was arrested on June 20 and kept in Chesmashahi hut before his release on August 04.
