Fresh avalanche warning issued for Kashmir, Kargil

Srinagar, Feb 17 (KMW): Fresh avalanche warning was issued today by the authorities for hilly and avalanche prone areas of Kashmir valley and Kargil district in Ladakh region during the next 24 hours.
An official spokesperson said that Divisional Administration, Kashmir issued an avalanche warning for next 24 hours for hilly and avalanche prone areas of the valley and Kargil district.
According to a statement of Divisional Administration, “High danger avalanche warning valid for next 24 hours exists for avalanche prone slopes in Bandipora district.”
“While as medium danger avalanche warning exists for avalanche prone slopes of Baramulla and Kupwara in north Kashmir, Ganderbal in the central valley and Kargil in Ladakh region.
Accordingly, all concerned Deputy Commissioners have been asked to take precautionary measures in their respective districts and advise people not to venture in avalanche prone areas during the aforementioned period and monitor the situation regularly to avert any untoward incident.
