Gulmarg played host to the 12th Senior National Ice stock Sport Championship 2026 from January 23–26, where Kashmir’s Faheem Masood Shah delivered a commanding performance to secure two gold and two silver medals. The result reaffirmed his standing as one of India’s most consistent winter sport competitors and highlighted the depth of athletic talent emerging from the Valley.Faheem’s showing once again brought attention to the persistent disconnect between athlete output and institutional backing in infrastructure-heavy winter sports. His medals were not simply victories on ice—they reflected years of technical discipline, personal sacrifice, and resilience in the face of limited sponsorship and uneven state support.Sharing the ice with Faheem were fellow Kashmiri athletes Mohammad Sarfaraz, Adil Manzoor Peer, and Ishfaq Ahmad, who together represent a rising yet under-supported generation of winter athletes pushing through harsh weather, low visibility, and minimal resources.
