Foreign militant of LeT killed, two escapes in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 7 : A foreign militant of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) was killed while two others managed to escape under the cover of darkness in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, official sources said.

They said troops of Rashitriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint search operation following a tip off about the presence of militants at village Samboora in Pulwama district last night.

However, when the security forces were sealing the area, militants opened indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons, they said adding security forces also retaliated and in an encounter a foreign militant was killed.

Two militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness, they said adding later security forces called off the operation early this morning after conducting massive search operation in the area.

With this a total of eight militants were killed in different encounters with security forces this month.
