Forces Thrash Journalists in Srinagar

Srinagar: During the observance of a strict hartal the down town locality of Srinagar witnessed clashes between protestors and police. Forces thrashed journalists.
As per reports, 3 journalists were severely batoned to pulp and had to be hospitalized. The incident took place on the day when senior hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani had called for a day long band in Kashmir against alleged detention of minors by police.
Yawar Kabli, who works with Kashmir Dispatch, and three others including a video-journalist Umar Mehraj working with the Associated Press were manhandled and ruthlessly beaten up by the security personnel of CRPF and police near Saraf Kadal in down-town while they were covering protests in the Old City. According to reports, 35 youth were arrested during the protests in the downtown locallity.
