For a change, Mirwaiz corners Omar on ‘Bijli, Sadak, Pani’

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference(M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday slammed the state government led by Omar Abdullah for “failing” to provide basic amenities to people, saying election-time promises of pro-India politicians regarding “bijli, sadak, pani” fall flat during governance time.
“Pro-India parties make tall claims pf providing roads, water, electricity and other facilities to people during election campaigns while shifting the onus of resolving the Kashmir dispute on separatists, India and Pakistan. But they even fail to provide this promised good  governance to people,” Mirwaiz said while addressing a Friday gathering at Jamia Masjid today.
“With the first dash of snow in the valley, people were left to face hardships as electricity, water and other basic amenities were snapped due to administrative inefficiency,” Mirwaiz said
He said from 1947  pro-India parties had been taking  innocent people for a ride by taking “undue advantage” of the political uncertainty in. Kashmir.  “Huge promises were made to the people of Kashmir but never fulfilled, post 1947. In fact, before that at least the people of Kashmir were self reliant in many ways but today we are dependent on outside states for even basic amenities. These pro-India parties are creating hurdles in  the political solution of Kashmir issue, which would mark the beginning of an era of development and prosperity in the state ,” Mirwaiz added.
Mirwaiz said development, economic growth, self reliance and peace were not impossible until the Kashmir issue was resolved.
