Five DPS Srinagar Students to Represent India at Junior Asian Pencak Silat Championship

Srinagar, September 25: Delhi Public School Srinagar takes immense pride in celebrating a historic achievement—five of our students have earned the honor of representing India at the 3rd Junior Asian Pencak Silat Championship 2025-26. The championship, which has brought together 11 countries and 12 teams, is currently underway at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex (SKISC), Srinagar.

The prestigious event was inaugurated on 26th September by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of J&K, Mr. Omar Abdullah, in the presence of Minister for Youth Services and Sports Mr. Satish Sharma, MLA Lal Chowk Mr. Sheikh Ahsan Ahmed (Pardesi), Secretary of J&K Sports Council Ms. Nuzhat Gul, along with coaches, officials, and athletes from across Asia.

The students who will proudly don the tricolor are:

  • Samma, Class 11
  • Alishiba Jeelani, Class 11
  • Mysha Bilal, Class 10
  • Nehal Zubair, Class 10

Their selection is a testament to their unwavering dedication, hard work, and extraordinary talent in the martial art of Pencak Silat.

Expressing her pride, Principal Ms. Shafaq Afshan said, “This is a remarkable accomplishment and a proud moment for the entire DPS Srinagar community.”

Chairman Mr. Vijay Dhar also shared his delight, adding, “To have five of our own represent the nation is a matter of great honor. It reflects not only the students’ perseverance but also the quality and commitment of training at our institution. We wholeheartedly support them and wish them the very best as they compete with the finest athletes in Asia. They are a source of inspiration for us all.”

The championship is being jointly organized by the Indian Pencak Silat Federation and the J&K Sports Council, with the official confirmation of selection shared by the Pencak Silat Association of Jammu & Kashmir.
