First cases of H1N1 from Ganderbal, two test positive; Patient dies, toll reaches to 9

Ganderbal, Feb 24, KMW: A middle aged male and a femal have tested positive for H1N1 in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal, Dr R.D.Kasana informed CNS that a couple of days ago some residents of proper Ganderbal complained of chest pain and fever. “After taking the samples of the patients, two have tested positive. Both are the middle aged male and female,” he said adding that both the patients have been shifted to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Soura.
CMO Ganderbal appealed people to follow the advisory issued by Directorate of Health Service in order to keep the H1N1 virus at bay.
Meanwhile, according to Public Relations Officer, SKIMS, one more patient died due to deadly swine flu on Tuesday taking the toll to 9. The deceased patient according to SKIMS authorities had been admitted on Feb 9 as a case of Brain Hemorrhage and was tested positive for H1N1 also.
According to reports there are still two patients in ICU on ventilator while 9 patients are being taken care of in isolation ward in SKIMS. Hospital PRO said that number of patients test positive for H1N1 have gone up to 15 from last 24 hours.
