Bengaluru, Sep 8 Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda on Friday said that he will not be attending tomorrow’s G20 dinner organised by President Droupadi Murmu, due to health reasons.
“I will not be attending the G20 dinner organised by the Hon. President of India Draupadi Murmuji, on 09 September 2023, due to health reasons. I have already communicated this to the government. I wish the G20 summit a grand success. @PMOIndia @rashtrapatibhvn,” the Ex-PM Xed.
Deve Gowda disclosed his unavailability at the G20 dinner in Delhi hours after news of JDS and BJP reaching an understanding to fight 2024 Lok Sabha election in Karnataka.
BS Yediyurappa, who is Parliamentary Board Member of the BJP, today confirmed the tie-up and added that it would boost the electoral prospects of the BJP in future elections.
In the last Lok Sabha election, BJP had won 25 seats out of 28 in the state. The remaining seats were won by an Independent backed by the BJP, Congress and JDS.
An invitation also was sent to former PM Manmohan Singh to attend the dinner party. Also, invitations to Chief Ministers of all the states have also been sent.
Mallikarjun Kharge, who is leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, was not sent an invitation for the dinner, stirring up a political row with former AICC President Rahul Gandhi launching a tirade against Narendra Modi government.
He said, “It tells you they (BJP) don’t value the leader of 60 per cent of India’s population.”
