New Delhi: Japan, the European Union and the UK today expressed shock and strong indignation at the deaths and injuries caused by the terrorist attack at the Delhi High Court yesterday and reaffirmed their support to India in the fight against terror.
In separate statements issued by their respective embassies here, the three countries also strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
Japan while mourning the victims, said terrorism in all its forms and manifestations could not be justified. “Japan firmly condemns these atrocious acts of terrorism that victimise so many innocent people and hopes that the people of India will quickly overcome this ordeal,” the statement said.It said Japan also intended to continue cooperating with the international community to combat terrorism.Ms Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the European for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, said she was appalled by the terrorist attack and said it was essential that the perpetrators of this evil attack were brought to justice. British High Commissioner to India, Sir Richard Stagg, while “unreservedly” condemning the attack, expressed confidence that the resilience and spirit of Delhi’s citizens would not waver in the face of the attack.”Our thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones or have been injured in the attack. I unreservedly condemn such acts of senseless violence. I am sure that the resilience and spirit of Delhi’s citizens will not waver in the face of this callous act,” Sir Richard said.
