Encounter ensued in north Kashmir

Baramulla: An encounter ensued in apple township of Sopore when a group of militants attacked a security force search party today, official sources here said.
They said on a tip-off security forces launched a search operation at Batpora, Sopore, in this north Kashmir district today.
However, when a particular area was sealed, militants opened fire.
“We heard firing from the area,” a resident told KMW adding “later more security forces were rushed and cordon around the particular area was further tightened.” He said civilians in the area were being allowed to move to safer places.
It was not immediately clear whether the militants were inside any house, sources said adding that there could be one to two militants hiding there.
Efforts are on to force militants to surrender, they said.
