JAMMU: Environment Committee of Legislative Assembly today discussed the report submitted by the official committee constituted to draft a policy for the environment conservation and underlining the measures to examine the affects of stone crushers and Brick kilns on the environs.
The Committee met here under the Chairmanship of MLA, Mr. Nizam-ud-Din Bhat.
The meeting discussed threadbare the report submitted by the official committee. The members asked the officials to include the suggestions of stakeholders while finalizing the policy draft.
The official committee was constituted in June on the directions of the Environment.
The Legislators (members), S. Rafiq Hussain Khan, Mr. Mohammad Khalil Bandh, Dr. Mohammad Shafi Wani, Ch. Sham Lal, Dr. Javed Mustfa, Mr. Durga Dass, Mr. Lal Chand, Mr. Jagdish Raj Sapolia and Mr. Jugal Kishore gave their suggestions in formulating the proposed policy.
Among others, Commissioner, Secretary Industries Mr. Umang Narula, Chairman PCB, Special Secretary Forest, Director Environment, Director Geology and Mining, Director Industries, Kashmir/Jammu and other officers from PCB, Industries, Forest, Environment, Geology and Mining and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
