EC Aga Syeed Mujtaba Mussavi flags off phase-V of FMD vaccination campaign under NADCP in Kargil

Kargil, April 16: Executive Councillor, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, LAHDC, Kargil, Aga Syeed Mujtaba Mussavi today flagged off the phase-5 of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination campaign under National Animal Disease Control Program (NADCP) from Cattle Breeding Farm Kurbathang, Kargil.

On the occasion, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Kargil, Dr. Gulzar Hussain, informed that the vaccination drive will be carried out across all blocks of the district. He urged public representatives, Nambardars and farmers to extend full cooperation to ensure that no animal is left unvaccinated.

Highlighting the importance of the campaign, Dr. Hussain emphasised that FMD is a contagious viral disease that severely affects livestock health, milk production, and consequently, the livelihood of farmers. He emphasised the importance of timely vaccination to control and ultimately eradicate the disease from the region.

Later, the EC visited the Disease Investigation Office-cum-District Veterinary Hospital, where he inspected various facilities, including dispensary and operation theatre.

During the visit, the EC lauded the efforts of Animal Husbandry Department and assured that all necessary measures will be taken to strengthen the department and safeguard the interests of farmers. The EC emphasised for continued dedication to ensure the health and well-being of livestock in the district.
