PATNITOP: Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand today reviewed the pace of winter stocking of the essential commodities and arrangements and preparedness for snow clearance during the snow fall on National Highway and other vital road links in Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts at high level meeting of seniors officers at Patnitop here on Sunday.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur- Reasi range, Mr. Jagjit Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. P.K. Pole, Deputy Commissioner, Doda, Mr. Farooq Ahmed Khan, Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mr. Shabir Ahmed Bhat, Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Ch. Saleem, Managing Director J&K Housing Board, Director Local Bodies, SSP Udhampur, SSP Traffic, SP Ramban and other officers of various departments and local bodies of four districts were present in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting the Dy CM called upon the Deputy Commissioners of these four districts for additional efforts to complete stocking of essential commodities in accessible snow bound areas. Reviewing the arrangements for road clearance during snow fall on national Highway and other internal vital links of the districts, Mr. Tara Chand issued instructions to the DCs for the deployment of sufficient snow clearance machinery at the vintage points to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement during the winter season.
The Dy CM was apprised that adequate stock of essential commodities in traditional snow fall areas of Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban has already been dumped for next three months. The Deputy Commissioners further informed that the concerned district officers have been directed for timely supply of ration and other essentials to inaccessible areas.
Expressing his serious concern over the frequent road accidents especially in hilly areas, the Dy CM asked the officers of traffic department to constitute mobile checking squads to keep a strict vigil over the menace of overloading.
The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed the performance of Local Bodies of these districts under district plan and state and centrally sponsored schemes. Issuing instructions to the officers of Local Bodies, Mr. Tara Chand called for accelerating the tendering process and using latest machinery in the execution of different projects for their time line completion. He asked the DDCs for taking regular review meetings of different municipalities of their respective districts. He also asked them to ensure that Public Disclosure Law be implemented in their districts in litter and spirit.
Stressing the need for creating new Housing colonies in these districts for revenue generation, the Dy CM asked the DCs to identify suitable chunk of land in their respective districts in consultation with Managing Director J&K Housing Board.
The Deputy Chief Minister who is also the Chairman of District Development Board, Udhampur took a sector wise review of the district plan upto ending December, 2012.
Later, in a separate meeting with Deputy Commissioners and senior Police officers of these district, the Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed in detail the security scenario. (KMW News)Â
