JAMMU; Showing his dissatisfaction over the pace of progress on the construction of 608 one room tenements for rehabilitation of slum dwellers of Rajiv Nagar and Sunjwan, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand today directed the executing agency to speed up the pace of work ensuring quality and judicious spending of funds.
While inspecting the progress of work at Sunjwan on Rs. 14.26 crore housing project under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), the Deputy Chief Minister laid stress on accelerating the pace of work and ensuring completion of the project at the earliest.
“You should redouble your working schedules and put up extra efforts in helping the completion of the project before the targeted dateâ€, he directed the executing agency adding that the providing residential facility to slum dwellers is priority of the Government.
Talking to the officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation who are executing the job at the construction site, the Deputy Chief Minister underlined the importance of the project and exhorted upon the officers to work with utmost zeal and dedication for its timely completion.
The Deputy Chief Minister was informed that each quarter set is having one room, one living room, Kitchen and bathroom. It was informed that Rs. 5.76 crore has already been released by the Centre government for the project, while Rs. 79 lakh has been released by the state government.
Among others, Commissioner, JMC Mr. S. C. Sawhney and other senior functionaries of concerned departments also accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister.
