Dy CM inaugurates winter games-2016 at Gulmarg

GULMARG, APRIL 30: Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh Saturday said that present dispensation is committed to provide requisite infrastructure to boost sports activities in the State.

The Deputy CM said this after inaugurating winter games-2016, at Gulmarg. The event was organized by Special Olympics Bharat as a part of preparatory camp for World Winter Games to be hosted in Austria in 2017.

Participants from within the state and neighbouring Himachal Pradesh are taking part in the winter sports which will last till May 4, 2016.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Singh said it is a matter of great satisfaction that such sports events are being held in the state which provides platform to local youth to exhibit their talent. He said Kashmir has a huge potential for holding such events and stressed for harnessing the potential for making Gulmarg as world’s best winter sports destination.

He said sports activities develop sportsmanship which helps in bridging gaps.

Dr. Singh urged upon the out station participants of Himachal Pradesh to be as ambassadors of peace and goodwill and take the message that people in Kashmir are tolerant and believe in brotherhood, harmony and inclusiveness.
