JAMMU: Minister of State for Cooperatives, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma attended the two day international conference on co operatives at Bhopal. Titled Cooperatives for Social and Economic Change, the conference was organized jointly by Government of Madhya Pradesh and Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, NGO in Special Consultative status with the Economic & Social Council of United Nations on 9th & 10th February, 2012.
Addressing the conference, Dr. Manohar stated that the International Conference aims at building a consensus amongst the Governments, policy makers and administrators to provide autonomy and operational freedom by enacting and facilitating economic and legal environment and bring into focus the potential of the Cooperatives as a viable Economic Enterprise for Economic and Social Change.
The Conference was inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
On the sidelines of the conference, Dr. Manohar had discussions relating to Cooperatives with Madhya Pradesh Minister for Cooperation, Mr. Gouri Shankar Bishen and also West Bengal Minister for Cooperation and Inland Water Transport, Mr. Haider Aziz Safwi. He also interacted with the Ministers of Cooperation/ dignitaries of eighteen countries who had come to attend the said Conference.
The Minister was accompanied by Dr. Syed Mohammad Fazalullah, Registrar, Cooperatives, J&K. (KMW NEWS)
