Dr. Bhat highlighted the challenges that the region has faced since Article 370’s abrogation, including rising unemployment—which now stands at 26.6%—as well as struggles in agriculture and tourism. He stressed that economic and social pressures have mounted, leaving many residents feeling both financially and culturally disenfranchised. By passing this resolution, the Assembly has shown its dedication to addressing these issues while calling for constructive dialogue with the central government to address the people’s needs and concerns.
Fayaz Ahmad Bhat opined that This resolution not only reaffirms Jammu and Kashmir’s distinct historical and socio-political identity but also aligns with India’s democratic values of federalism, which respect diversity within unity. Dr. Bhat urged the Government of India to take note of the Assembly’s call and begin a dialogue to restore Article 370 in a way that secures both regional autonomy and inclusive development for Jammu and Kashmir. He affirmed that the Samajwadi Party stands steadfastly by the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their pursuit of restored rights, economic stability, and a secure cultural identity.
