Dogra Certificate revocation: Collective victory for Kashmiris: Geelani

Srinagar: Expressing his satisfaction over the rescinding of Dogra certificate order, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Friday congratulated people for what he termed a “collective victory” of Kashmiris.
Addressing a massive gathering in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district after Friday prayers, Geelani termed the government’s decision to revoke the Dogra certificate as “a victory for our principled stand, which has shown that our struggle for freedom will also bear fruit one day.”
He said the Hurriyat (G) firmly believed that there was no need for issuing a Dogra certificate in the presence of permanent resident certificate, which is why the amalgam had called for a strike on April 11.
Geelani said the revoking of the Dogra certificate was a “collective victory” for all Kashmiris, and had shown that nothing is impossible if people show strong will and determination.
Geelani said the three interlocutors—Dileep Padgaonkar, MM Ansari and Radha Kumari— had been appointed to divide Kashmiris. On his recent meeting with LJP leader and Member Parliament, Ram Vilas Paswan, Geelani said that Paswan had not come as a representative of the India government but on behalf of the Indian public.
“They have no authority and can only submit recommendations. Whether to accept these recommendations or throw them into the dustbin is entirely New Delhi’s prerogative. Our stand is that we must convey our stand to the Indian people and meet anyone on non-governmental level to appraise the Indian masses about the sufferings and miseries of Kashmiris,”.
Geelani reiterated that he was not against talks, but, for a meaningful dialogue process, “India will have to show flexibility, shun arrogance and accept the ground realities in Kashmir.”
Geelani asked New Delhi to accept the Hurriyat (G) five-point formula, including the disputed status of Kashmir, and remove impediments in tri-lateral dialogue.
Geelani rejected any “ready-made solutions” while flaying former Pakistani president, General Pervez Musharraf, for “falling for India’s trap and presenting the four-point formula aimed at maintaining status quo in Jammu and Kashmir.”
“If any such solution is imposed on us, we will resist. Jammu and Kashmir is neither a part of India nor Pakistan, it’s a disputed territory    and no solution can be found by sidelining the wishes and aspirations of its people,” he said
