Tamil Nadu, July 28 Coming down heavily on the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu, senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister
Amit Shah sounded the Lok Sabha poll bugle on Friday and accused the DMK as the ‘most corrupt in the country.’
Mr.Shah, who was here to flag off BJP’s “En Mann, En Makkal (My Land, My People) state-wide 1,700 km long Padayatra to ensure Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s return to power for third time in succession in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, said the “one of the Ministers in the DMK government, who was arrested by the ED (in a money laundering case) and lodged in
prison is still continuing as a Minister (without Portfolio).
Without naming Tamil Nadu Minister V.Senthilbalaji, who was at present
in judicial custody after being arrested by the ED, Mr Amit Shah said
Chief Minister and DMK President M.K.Stalin will not ask for his
resignation, because the Minister will reveal all the secrets about
him,” he said.
“If the Minister quits the post, all the details will be out”, he added.
“If one talk about the DMK and the Congress, only the Coal and 2G
scam will come in one’s mind”, he charged.
He said the En Mann, En Makkal yatra is to free Tamil Nadu from dynastic
politics, corruption and to improve the law and order situation in the State.
The yatra will highlight Tamil culture and Tamil Nadu BJP chief K.Annamalai,
who is leading the yatra, is going to establish the nationalism of Mr.Modi
across the state.
Referring to the genocide of Lankan Tamils during the height of war in
Sri Lanka in 2009, Mr Amit Shah said the massacre of Tamils took place
in Sri Lanka during the Congress-led UPA regime at the centre and both
the Congress and its ally DMK were responsible for it and also on the
woes of fishermen (who were being repeatedly apprehended by the Lankan
Navy).
Slamming the opposition, he said they doesn’t want to make India stronger
and instead were looking for the future of their sons.
“Ms Sonia Gandhi (Former Congress Chief) aims to make her son Rahul Gandhi
PM, Stalin wants to make his son Udhayanidhi CM, Lalu Prasad Yadav aims to
make son Tejashwi CM, Mamta Banerjee aims to make nephew Abhishek CM,
Ashok Gehlot wans to make his son Vaibhav CM and Uddhav Thackeray wants
his son to be the CM”, Mr Amit Shah charged.
But, Mr.Modi is working against corruption and dynastic politics, he added.
He further said Mr.Modi has replaced the politics of casteism, familism,
appeasement, regionalism with the politics of performance in the last
nine years.
Mr.Modi was the first Prime Minister to speak in Tamil in the United Nations,
he said.
Listing out the various schemes and fund allocations for Tamil Nadu
made by the Centre for developmental projects, Mr Amit Shah exuded
confidence that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance will win the
general elections with a huge majority and Mr Narendra Modi will become
the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term.
Mr.Shah, while taking a dig at the Opposition-led INDIA (alliance),
said merely changing the name does nothing and that the people will
always remember the scams worth over Rs 12 lakh crores that took
place under the Congress-led UPA regime.
Later, he flagged off the padayatra in the presence of leaders of
alliance parties.
BJP State President K.Annamalai, who is leading the yatra, said they
will cover around 1,700 km on foot and then on a special vehicle for
900 km.
“We will cover 234 assembly constituencies during the yatra to highlight
the public on the benefits that the Modi-led government had brought to
the state”, he said.
He said the six-month-long yatra would conclude on January 11, next year
ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Public meetings will be held in 10 cities.
A booklet – “What did Modi do?” was released by Mr.Shah and about one
crore copies will be distributed to the people.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made in Rameswaram in view
of the visit of Mr Shah.
