SRINAGAR: In order to ensure smooth conduct of ensuing Republic Day celebration, a high level meeting was held here today with Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asghar Samoon in chair.

The meeting discussed various aspects with regards to the celebration of the event and took many decisions.
It was stated in the meeting that the main function of Kashmir division will be held at Bakshi Stadium, starting with Shahnai Wadan in the dawn of the day. The contingents of BSF, CRPF, IRF, JKAP, Auxiliary Police, IRP, Women Police, Fire and Emergency Service, NCC Cadets and School children will participate in the march past.
The Information Department and Cultural Academy will present cultural variety programme on the occasion.
The Divisional Commissioner directed Srinagar Municipal Corporation to ensure cleanliness in Srinagar city, especially in and around Bakshi Stadium. The PDD will ensure illumination of main government buildings to mark the celebration. Likewise departments like Health, Protocol, R&B, PHE, Fire and Emergency Service etc. were directed to utilize their men and machinery for smooth conduct of Republic Day Celebration.
He also stressed for close liaison between department to department to make the function a success.
Dr. Samoon directed security agencies to ensure foolproof security arrangement on the occasion.
Similar functions will be held at district levels also.
The meeting, among others was attended by IG Kashmir, Mr. S.M. Sahai, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Baseer Ahmad Khan, DIG Armed, Mr. Rouf-ul-Hassan, DIG Kashmir, Mr. A.G. Mir, SP Traffic, Mr. Habib-ur-Rehman, Joint Director Information, Mr. Itrat Hussain Rafiquee and other civil and police officers of different position.(KMW News)
