SRINAGAR, JUNE 09: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today convened a meeting to take stock of availability of essential commodities and provision of basic amenities for the month of Holy Ramdhan.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Director, Health Services, Kashmir, Director, CA&PD, Kashmir, senior officers of Waqf Board, Animal and Sheep Husbandry departments and other line departments.
Reviewing the availability of ration, sugar, poultry, k-oil and LPG, the Divisional Commissioner impressed upon the concerned to ensure that adequate arrangements have been put in place for the convenience of the people during the month of Ramdhan..
The Divisional Commissioner directed the officers of PDD and PHE department to ensure regular power and potable water supply during the holy month especially during Sehri and Iftaar. He also asked the SRTC authorities to keep transport available at Iftaar time.
Div Com stressed upon the SMC, CA&PD, Metrological departments and Police for regular market checking so that people are not overcharged.
The Divisional Commissioner, through a video conference, directed the Deputy Commissioners of various districts to ensure availability of essential commodities and basic facilities in their districts with the cooperation of people.
The Director CA&PD informed that enough stock of essential commodities is available in all districts and villages including far flung areas like Leh and Kargil, adding that the shortage of sugar will be addressed within weeks time.
