District Magistrate Kargil Imposes Restrictions Under Section 163 of BNS 2023

Kargil, September 24: The District Magistrate of Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, IAS, has imposed prohibitory restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNS), 2023, with immediate effect to prevent any disturbance to public peace and order within the district.

The order follows inputs from the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kargil, expressing apprehensions of potential disturbances to public tranquility. After careful consideration, the District Magistrate directed the enforcement of the following restrictions:

  1. Ban on Processions and Rallies: No procession, rally, public march, or demonstration of any kind shall be allowed without prior written permission.
  2. Restriction on Use of Loudspeakers: Use of loudspeakers, sound amplifiers, or vehicle-mounted public address systems is prohibited without prior authorization.
  3. Ban on Provocative Statements: Public statements, speeches, or electronic messages likely to disturb peace or provoke enmity are strictly banned.
  4. Prohibition of Unlawful Assembly: Gathering of five or more persons for purposes prejudicial to peace and tranquility remains prohibited across the district.

Violations of the order will invite strict legal action under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and other applicable laws.

The order, issued in the larger public interest, has been passed ex-parte and will remain in force until further orders.
