District Child Protection Unit Kargil conducts inspection cum awareness drive on child physical abuse at private residential hostels

Kargil, February 19: The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Kargil, in collaboration with Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and Child Helpline (1098/112), conducted an Inspection cum Awareness Drive from February 12 to February 15, 2025, on child physical abuse at various private residential hostels in Kargil.

This initiative was undertaken in response to a child physical abuse incident reported at a Private Residential Coaching Centre in Kargil. The drive aimed to assess hostel facilities, interact with students and staff, and raise awareness on child protection laws.

The inspections revealed that while most hostels provided basic facilities, some required improvements in sanitation and infrastructure. The team engaged with students and hostel staff to ensure a child-friendly environment and strict adherence to child protection laws.

Through this initiative, the DCPU emphasized the importance of child-friendly approaches and reinforced awareness about child rights and protection laws.

The drive was led by Habibullah Rizwani, Protection Officer (Institutional Care), DCPU Kargil, along with the team from DCPU, CWC, and Child Helpline.
