Laussane, Oct 12 Indian discus thrower Kamalpreet Kaur has been banned for three years for doping, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced on Wednesday.
“The AIU has banned Kamalpreet Kaur of India for 3 years for the Presence/Use of a Prohibited Substance (Stanozolol), starting from 29 March 2022. DQ results from 7 March 2022,” AIU tweeted.
Kamalpreet’s results from March 7 will be won’t be considered valid.
The 26-year-old thrower, who had finished sixth at Tokyo Olympics, received one year reduction in the period of Ineligibility asserted by the Integrity Unit as she has admitted and accepted the sanction.
According the rule 10.8.1, Anti Doping Rule (ADR) provides that an athlete potentially subject to an asserted period of Ineligibility of four years may benefit from a one-year reduction in the period of
Ineligibility based on an early admission and acceptance of sanction.
