New Delhi: Leaders of several political parties today decided to form a committee to build pressure on the government to start dialogue with Kashmir separatists.
At a meeting held at the residence of Lok Janshakti Party Chief Ram Vilas Paswan, the leaders and members of civil society decided that the committee will seek to build a public opinion “at national level” on the issue of Kashmir.
Those who attended the meeting included MPs D Raja and Ram Kripal Yadav, political leaders Danish Ali, Shohaib Iqbal, Ramchandra Paswan and Abdul Khaliq, journalist Seema Mustafa and JNU Professor Kamal Mitra Chenoy.
A meeting will be held again on December 27 in which the name of the committee will be formalised.
The move comes after an 11-member delegation of MPs and civil society members comprising Paswan and Raja returned completing a “fact-finding” tour of the Valley earlier on December 3.
