DG Prisons briefs Governor

JAMMU, MARCH 12(KMW): Dilbag Singh, DG Prisons, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.

Sh. Singh briefed the Governor about his recent visits to various jails to review their functioning and the adequacy of the obtaining security arrangements. He also discussed issues relating to the adequacy of the number and existing capacity of the jails and the gaps in their day to day administration. He also informed about prisoners welfare programmes being run in the jails.

Governor stressed the importance of effectively ensuring the security arrangements in the jails, which must be run strictly as per prescriptions in the Jail Manual, adequate medical arrangements and the welfare of the prisoners being assured.
