Srinagar: Deputy Speaker, Legislative Assembly Tuesday assumed after twelve days following resignation from the post.In an unexpected development, the deputy speaker, Mohammad Sartaj Madni returned to house after consultations with speaker Mohammad Akhbar Lone, law and parliamentary affairs minister, Ali Mohammad Sagar, minister for agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir and JKNPP MLA Harshdev Singh in speaker chamber. Correspondent said that during the discussion on demands for grants for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, some PDP MLAs asked for response from speaker about resignation by the deputy speaker. The speaker categorically refused to accept the resignation and asserted that Madni was his brother. In between, Lone left the chair and called Sagar, Mir, Harshdev to his chamber where they resolved the issue. Ten minutes later, the Members took Madni to his Chair in the House which was appreciated by all.On March 03 last, the deputy speaker from opposition PDP had announced his resignations against “unparliamentary” attitude of the speaker.Madni, also Member Legislative Assembly from Devsar, had said that he was disappointed by the remarks by speaker carried by the press about the proceeding in the House involving marshaling out of PDP MLAs.After no action by the speaker, Madni had written two letters seeking acceptance of resignation as deputy speaker.
