Kargil, June 26: Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, today attended the final match of the Dardic Premier League Cricket Tournament, organized by DLS Club Shimsha at Khree Sultan Choo Stadium, Biamathang, Kargil.
The event witnessed the esteemed presence of Councillor Abdul Wahid, Councillor Abdul Samad, Councillor Altaf Hussain, DYSSO Kargil Abid Ali among others.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner congratulated DLS Club Shimsha for organizing the tournament in a well-managed and professional manner, which brought together cricketing talent from across the district. He also appreciated the spirit of sportsmanship and healthy competition displayed by all the participating teams and emphasized the role of such events in youth engagement and sports development in the region.
The two-month-long tournament saw enthusiastic participation from 56 teams across all sub-divisions of Kargil, making it one of the most extensive grassroots-level cricket tournaments in the region. In an exciting final match, Dardic Legends Shimsha (DLS) clinched victory against Friends Club Drass (FCD) by five wickets. FCD won the toss and set a competitive target of 194 runs in 20 overs, which DLS successfully chased.
A large number of cricket fans and spectators filled the stadium to witness the thrilling final, applauding the performance and efforts of both teams. The organizers, DLS Shimsha, received praise from attendees for their commendable arrangements.
During the prize distribution ceremony, the winning team DLS Shimsha was awarded a cash prize of ₹2.10 lakh and a trophy, while the runner-up FCD received ₹1.5 lakh and a trophy. Suhail Ahmad was declared Man of the Series and awarded ₹6000 for his outstanding performances throughout the tournament. Maroof Lefty (DLS) was named Player of the Match and received a cash prize of ₹3,000.
Several other players were felicitated based on their individual achievements during the league.
