New Delhi, July, 28 A Delhi Court granted more time to BJP MP and former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh to peruse the chargesheet in the alleged sexual harassment case filed by women wrestlers.
The court adjourned the matter for August 3 for further proceedings.
Counsel for Singh today moved an exemption application on behalf of the MP by submitting that identity is not disputed in the matter. He further submitted that some more time be given for scrutiny of documents considering the voluminous nature of the record received from Delhi police.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harjeet Singh Jaspal after hearing the request allowed the exemption application of Singh and granted time to scrutiny of the documents.
The court said, “Be put up for scrutiny/further proceedings on 03.08.2023.”
The ACMM Court after taking cognizance on the chargesheet issued summons against Singh and his Assistant Secretary Vinod Tomar for their appearance on July 18. After they appeared on July 20, It granted regular bail with the conditions to furnish a personal bond of Rs 25,000.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Mahima Rai Singh on June, 22 after hearing the submission on behalf of Public Prosecutor transferred the case to the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harjeet Singh Jaspal for hearing.
Delhi Police had filed a chargesheet under sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking) and 506 (criminal intimidation) defined under Indian Penal Code(IPC) against Singh on June 15.
