DC Kargil Reviews Developmental Projects and Education Status in Zanskar Division

Zanskar, July 23: Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, convened a comprehensive review meeting with Block Development Officers (BDOs) of the Zanskar Division to evaluate the progress of ongoing developmental works under various schemes such as (CCDA), District CAPEX, MGNREGA, and other state sector schemes.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed concerned officers to submit a detailed inventory of all works, including their current status, categorization under respective schemes, and timelines for completion. He specifically reviewed the progress of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) progress and sought updates on the availability and operational status of segregation vehicles and related sanitation infrastructure.

Rakesh Kumar directed the concerned officers  to reassess the estimates of proposed works to ensure transparency, feasibility, and proper utilization of funds. He stressed the need for quality execution and announced that during his next visit to the region, he would conduct on-site inspections and random verifications.

In the education sector, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Zonal Education Officer Zanskar (ZEO) to compile and present a comprehensive report on the student-teacher ratio, infrastructure status, dropout rates, examination results, and areas requiring targeted intervention for academic improvement.

The meeting was attended by Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zanskar, Mohammad Hassan, ZEPO Education Tsewang Dorjay, BDO Lungnak Tundup Dorjay, BDO Zanskar Mohd Ali, and AEE REW Samina Ali.
