DC/DEO Kargil flags off Polling Teams for ‘Vote from Home’ initiative

Kargil, May 10: Deputy Commissioner/ District Election Officer, Kargil, Shrikant Suse today flagged off Polling Teams for the ‘Vote from Home’ initiative of senior citizens and PwDs of Kargil District from the DC office complex here.

The DEO Kargil briefed that the Polling teams will facilitate Vote from Home (VfH) for the eligible Elderly Voters and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in connection with the upcoming Lok Sabha Election-2024 in respect of all the zones of Kargil district.

The DEO said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has taken a historic initiative which is a major step towards promoting inclusive and accessible elections by extending the Vote from Home facility to senior citizens above 85 years and PwDs.

DEO said that the facility has helped in promoting equal opportunities for all and ensuring that no one is left behind in the electoral process.

Voting for senior citizens and persons with disabilities from home shall be conducted in transparent manner with adequate deployment of security, micro observer as informed by ARO postal ballot- Kargil.

Assistant Returning Officer Postal/CPO Abdul Hadi, Election Naib Tehsildar Zakir Hussain, besides various election teams for postal voting were present during the flag off ceremony.
