DC Baramulla distributes Compensation Cheque to Dependents of Accident Victim

BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 04: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, in the presence of ALC Baramulla, Rahil Amin, today distributed a compensation cheque worth ₹12.78 Lacs to the dependents of accident victims under the provisions of the Employees Compensation Act, 1923 at his office chambers.

The compensation pertains to the unfortunate death of Mohammad Ashraf Malik, who lost his life in a work-related accident on 13 October 2025 at the work site at Kanispora, Baramulla. The amount was disbursed to the dependants of the deceased in accordance with the statutory provisions of the Employees Compensation Act.

On the occasion, the DC expressed deep sympathy with the bereaved family and emphasized that the district administration remains fully committed to safeguarding the welfare and rights of workers and their families. 

Minga Sherpa further stated that timely disbursement of compensation in cases of workplace fatalities is a priority for the administration, ensuring that affected families receive financial support without undue delay.
