The two top executives responsible for organising the Commonwealth Games , Lalit Bhanot and V K Varma were on Wednesday arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The duo were arrested after they were summoned to the CBI headquarters and subjected to questioning.
AIR correspondent quoting CBI sources reports, both have been arrested for irregularities in a 107 crore contract with a Swiss company for time-keeping equipment during the October 2010 Games. Bhanot has been booked by the probe agency under sections criminal conspiracy and cheating of IPC
and various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, along
with Switzerland-based firm Swiss Timing Ltd and other unknown persons.
