Srinagar: Situation remained peaceful across the valley on Thursday no incidents of violence were reported from any part of the valley.
According to police sources, curfew remained imposed in the areas of nine police stations where the day passed off peacefully. Life remained normal in other parts of the Srinagar city and rest of the valley.
However, District Magistrate Srinagar, Basseer Ahmad Khan said that curfew will remain imposed in areas of all the nine police stations on Friday.
“Although situation remained peaceful, but in view of tension and apprehensions of violence, curfew will continue to remain imposed on Friday in the areas of nine police stationsâ€, DM told Thursday evening.
Pertinently, authorities had imposed curfew in 9 police station areas including Nowhatta, M R Gunj, Safakadal, Khanyar, Rainwari, Nigeen, Lal Bazaar, Zadibal and Parimpora.
A police spokesman said that police had taken cognizance of the skirmishes between two groups in city’s Zadibal area.
Meanwhile, the Kashmir University has postponed all the exams scheduled for Friday, in wake of continuous curfew. However, the exams being conducted in Tangdhar, Gurez and Kargil areas will be held as per schedule, a KU spokesperson said.
