Srinagar, Jun 9 : Curfew-like restrictions have been imposed in many areas in Kashmir valley, where separatists had called for a strike today against the death of a civilian in alleged security force firing on Wednesday.
A youth Adil Farooq died when security forces allegedly opened fire to disperse demonstrators, who were trying to enter the area where a search operation against militants was launched in south Kashmir district of Shopian on June 6.
The authorities have already ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
Official sources told News agency that restrictions under section 144 CrPc have been imposed within the areas falling under seven police stations of Srinagar district, including Khanyar, Nowhatta, Safakadal, MR Gunj, Rainawari in downtown and Kralkhud in the old town, Maisuma in civil lines.
They said restrictions have also been imposed in main towns of Shopian in south and Ganderbal in central Kashmir.
